What is recorded here

Situated on a small steep rocky knoll, in gently undulating pasture, with good views in all directions. Monument described in 1971 as a roughly circular-shaped area (dims. 37.5m E-W; 35m N-S) enclosed by a bank and external fosse, a wide gap at E presumably represents the entrance. The bank (ext. H 0.7m) is high and steep on the exterior although it is low on the interior, having the remains of an internal stone facing at NW and ESE. There is a modern gap in the bank at NE. There are very slight remains of an outer fosse which is partly obscured around the outer edge by a modern stone wall. The interior rises gently from the perimeter to the centre where there is a house site (WM024-127001-). Immediately inside the ringfort bank at NNW are slight remains of an earth and stone radial bank (approx. L 4-5m) and there are similar remains at SE. Compiled by Alison McQueen, Vera Rahilly and Caimin O’Brien. Date of upload: 27 August 2019
