What is recorded here

Situated on a slight rise, in gently undulating and hilly pasture, with good views in all directions. Monument described in 1971 as a subcircular-shaped area defined by a bank, an intervening fosse and an outer bank, a gap (Wth at top 3.5m; basal Wth 2.2m) at E may represent the entrance. The low inner bank of earth and stone is almost reduced to a scarp and there are indications that it was faced with large stones on the exterior. There are very vague traces of an intervening fosse. The outer bank which is depicted from SW-W-N-NE on the revised 1913 ed. OS 25-inch map has been levelled and can now be traced as a distinctive light green cropmark. House site (WM024-040001-) located within S quadrant. See attached plan and profile of monument surveyed and drawn by ASI. Compiled by Alison McQueen, Vera Rahilly and Caimin O’Brien. Date of upload: 12 August 2019
