What is recorded here

Situated on top of a rise, in gently undulating pasture, with good views in all directions. Monument described in 1970-2 as an oval-shaped area (dims. 27m NNW-SSE; 20m WSW-ENE) enclosed by an inner bank, an intervening fosse and an outer bank. The inner bank is best preserved from SE-W-N-NE and is reduced to a scarp (H 1.6m) NE-E-SE. The fosse is visible from S-W-N-ENE and the outer bank is visible from NW-N-ENE. A gap (overall Wth 4.5m; basal Wth 2.2m) at SSE may represent the original entrance. Monument is visible as a suboval-shaped earthwork on Digital Globe aerial photography. Compiled by Alison McQueen, Vera Rahilly and Caimin O’Brien. Date of upload: 08 July 2019
