What is recorded here

Situated on a low rise, in gently undulating and hilly pasture. Depicted as a semi-circular shaped enclosure bisected at N by a field boundary running E-W on an estate map dating from 1776 (NLI MS 21 F 48 (26) ). Annotated ‘fort’ on the 1837 OS Fair Plan map. Depicted on the 1837 OS 6-inch map as a D-shaped area (approx. dims. 46m NE-SW; 28m NW-SE) with straight side to N defined by a field boundary which probably bisected the enclosure. No enclosing element shown to N of field boundary. No monument depicted on the revised 1913 ed. OS 25-inch map. An ASI field report of 1983 indicated that there was no surface remains visible of this levelled ringfort. Levelled monument barely visible today as a D-shaped cropmark on Digital Globe aerial photography. Compiled by: Alison McQueen, Vera Rahilly and Caimin O’Brien Date of upload: 20 December 2018
