Partially hachured — Tonlemony

Situated on a crest, at the WSW-end of a natural ridge running ENE-WSW, in undulating pasture with extensive views in all directions. Monument visible as a tree-lined earthwork on Digital Globe aerial photography. No antiquity depicted at this location on the 1837 ed. OS 6-inch map. Shown as a roughly oval-shaped earthwork on the revised 1913 ed. OS 25-inch map. Described in 1980 as a roughly oval-shaped area (approx. 38m N-S; 34m E-W) enclosed by a bank which is reduced to a scarp from SW-W-N-NNE, and levelled from NNE-E-SE and is incorporated into a field boundary from SE-S-SSW. There is no indication of an entrance or an external fosse. Where levelled, the outline of the perimeter can be traced as a slight rise in ground level. Where incorporated into a field fence running ENE-WSW, the scarp has been disturbed and has an irregular appearance, just inside the field fence, as annotated on the revised 1913 ed. OS 25-inch map. The interior rises from the perimeter towards the centre and there are small areas of rock outcrop within the W and SE quadrants. There are faint traces of old cultivation ridges running E-W across the interior & over the levelled line of the perimeter at E. A short field fence running N-S encloses the monument just outside the perimeter from SW-W-NW. Some low field banks of older appearance can be seen to E and SSE of the monument.
