What is recorded here

Situated on the top of a high prominent gravel hill with good views in all directions. A sub-circular shaped area (approx. diam. 31m N-S; 29m E-W) enclosed by two earthen banks and a shallow intervening fosse. The inner bank is low, and the fosse is only visible in the SW and NE quadrants. The outer bank is very low, little more than a berm and is only visible from SE-S. Vague traces of cultivation ridges are visible running E-W across the interior, in which several depressions are also visible, probably the result of quarrying. This ringfort is situated in a commercial quarry, and the ground has been quarried away all around the monument which is clearly visible on Digital Globe aerial photograph. See attached profile of monument surveyed and drawn by the ASI. Compiled by: Frank Coyne and Caimin O'Brien Date of upload: 11 September 2018
