According to the Ordnance Survey Letters Littleton Castle belonged to the Dillon's (RIA 14/G/13/3(19)). A rectangular structure depicted on the 1837 ed. OS 6-inch map, 80m S of the ruins of Littletown House may have been the site of Littletown Castle. O'Donovan recorded that there was 'no castle in Littletown. There are ruins just south of Littletown House, query Castle?' (OSL) The ruins mentioned in the OS letters are depicted on the 1837 OS Fair Plan map as a small rectangular-shaped ruin aligned NE-SW which may have been the remains of Littletown Castle. No surface remains visible of the structure in the area marked on the 1837 OS Fair Plan map. A small hollow depression is now visible at this location.
