What is recorded here

Situated on ESE facing slope of a broad ridge in hilly grassland, with fairly restricted views. Kilmaglish House stands 240m to NW. Depicted on the 1837 OS Fair Plan map as a roughly circular shaped earthwork annotated ‘fort’. Poorly preserved monument that has been partially levelled. Present remains consist of a large sub-circular shaped raised area (approx. diam. 46m N-S; 50m E-W) enclosed by a wide fosse (Wth 6.1m; D 0.45m). A field fence running NE-SW intersects the perimeter at NW, and a pond has been dug in the fosse at S. Compiled by: Frank Coyne and Caimin O'Brien Date of upload: 5 March 2018
