Situated on a low rise of ground in grassland, in field annotated as 'Mullagharolla' on 1837 ed. OS 6-inch map. Depicted on the 1837 OS Fair Plan map and annotated as a ‘Cave’. The Ordnance Survey Field Name Books (No. 31, 6) of 1837 recorded that 'there are 2 caves (WM011-151----) in this td. but they are in no way remarkable. No surface remains visible of any 'cave' or any possible souterrain in area marked on OS 6-inch map. Probably the remains of a natural cave rather than a souterrain.
