What is recorded here

Situated on a low rise of ground in undulating grassland, with good views in all directions. A raised circular shaped area (approx. diam. 34m N-S; 32m E-W) enclosed by two poorly preserved earthen banks with a wide intervening space (Wth 12m) and a shallow flat-bottomed external fosse. The ground slopes sharply downhill between the inner and outer banks. The inner bank is almost completely levelled. The outer bank is visible from NE-S-SW. An E-W field boundary intersects the outer bank at N, while a NNE-SSW roadway runs along the line of the fosse on the E side of the monument. There is an entrance gap (Wth 1.8m) through the inner bank, and also through the outer bank (Wth 2.5m) at SSW, flanked by two low parallel banks. The interior slopes from NW-SE. A rectangular house site (WM008-093001-) is visible in the centre of the monument. Compiled by: Frank Coyne and Caimin O'Brien Date of upload: 25 April 2017
