What is recorded here

Situated on low rise of ground in undulating pasture-land. Lough Lene 700m to SE. A barrow-cemetery consisting of seven barrows (WM007-014----; WM007-016----; WM007-017----; WM007-018----; WM007-015----; WM007-015001-) approx. 370m to E. Levelled monument which appears as a crop mark on OSI aerial photographs taken 2005 and digital globe aerial photographs taken November 2011. Field boundaries immediately to W of monument as depicted on OS 6-inch maps have also been levelled. Described by the ASI in 1976 as a sub-circular area (approx. diam. 22m N-S; 20m E-W) enclosed by a well preserved earthen bank and slight traces of a fosse from W-NW and at NE. Wide entrance gap at E, possibly widened in recent times. The interior slopes slightly from NW-SE, with traces of cultivation ridges. Modern field fence running alongside monument on the W.
