What is recorded here

Situated on a slight natural rise in gently undulating pasture-land. Bog 45m to NE and 130m to SW. Adjacent to railway line, Inny Junction 200m to NW. A sub-circular area (approx. diam. 30m N-S; 28m E-W) enclosed by a well preserved earthen bank (Wth 6m) and a slight fosse. A gap (Wth 4.5m) and causeway (Wth 7.8m) at NE represents the entrance. A post 1700 field boundary intersects the site from NW-W-SW. A large mound of earth partly overlies the bank and fosse at SW, probably spoil from the construction of the railway. The marshy interior slopes gently from S-N and has slight traces of cultivation ridges which run NW-SE. Compiled by: Frank Coyne & Caimin O'Brien Date of upload: 30 January 2017
