What is recorded here

Situated on SW slope of a natural hill with ringfort (WM003-018----) 40m to E, disused quarry 65m to NE. No monument is depicted at this location on the 1837 ed. OS 6-inch map and feature is depicted as a semi-circular shaped earthwork on 1911 ed. OS 25-inch map. A semi-circular shaped rise of ground defined by a low bank of earth and stone with traces of a shallow external fosse visible from NE-E-S-SSW only, with gap at SE which may represent an entrance feature (Wth 1.2m). Interior slopes considerably from NE-SW. The S side of the earthwork is intersected by a field boundary running NE-SW. No evidence of any enclosing element or cropmark of an enclosing feature on S side of field boundary. Compiled by: Frank Coyne & Caimin O'Brien Date of upload: 9 December 2016
