This is the record for the burnt mound (Area B) excavated by Yvonne Whitty (E3232) on the N11 road improvement scheme. Associated with the spread of burnt material was a trough with a timber lining, and a wattle screen on its N side. Also adjacent was an area of large unburnt stones interpreted as a working platform. A radiocarbon date from this feature dates it to the late Bronze Age. (Whitty 2009k)
