What is recorded here

Situated on a gentle E-facing slope but immediately above a sharp break in the slope. Circular area (diam. 21.1m; max. ext. diam. 33.5m) defined by a stony bank containing some earth (av. Wth 4m; H 0.65-1.1m; ext. H 0.65m). The structure of the bank shows as a domed pile of small stones. At the W and NE there are occasional blocks of stone set lengthwise along the lip of the bank. These may be the remnant of a faced wall set on the rubble bank. There is a sharp dip in the S sector of the interior. No indication of a fosse or entrance. Marked on the 1838 OS 6-inch map. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wicklow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 17 December 2008
