Discovered during the course of road improvement works on the N11 in 2003 (Excavation Licence No. 03E1038). A portion of a steep-sided ditch (referred to as F9 in excavation reports) (L 14.6m; Wth 1.8-2.2m), interpreted as that of a ringfort, was excavated (Lynch 2005, 17). This contained burnt animal bone, charcoal, heat-shattered stones, a fragment of a quernstone and the possible base of a quernstone. A second ditch feature (L 6.65m, referred to as F4 in excavation reports)was excavated to the N and the excavator suggested that this may also be part of the ringfort ditch.
