What is recorded here

Situated on a gentle E-facing slope in parkland. A reference in the Crede Mihi to a rector at Kilmacurragh (in this townland) prior to 1275 would suggest an early church site (Ronan 1928, 149). A circular enclosure labelled 'Site of Grave Yard' on the 1838 OS 6-inch map immediately to the east of Westaston House was levelled in 1836. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wicklow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 11 July 2013
