What is recorded here

Unlocated holy well within the townland of Ballybeg. According to Lynch (1994, 641) there is a holy well in the townland of Ballybeg that is mentioned in the 1930s Irish Folklore Commission, Schools Manuscript Collection (IFC S 927: 36). The folklore manuscripts recorded the tradition that the well ‘was frequented at one time but used in the 1930s for household purposes’ (Lynch 1994, 641). Compiled by: Caimin O'Brien Date of upload: 22 January 2013

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
