What is recorded here

Unlocated holy well within this townland. The well was described in the 1838-40 OS letters as ‘a holy well called Coffey’s Well, supposed to be so called from a man of that name having lived near it. It is still visited by those afflicted with the headache, ague, pains of the limbs, etc. , as the quantity of rags on the thorn over it testifies. There was a Patron held here on the 8th day of September, but not within the last fifty years’ (O’Flanagan 1928, 120). Date of upload: 19 October 2012

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
