Inscribed slab in Lugduff (ballinacor North By.)

Located outside W gable of Reefert Church (WI023-028001-) (Leask 1950, fig. 18c, 40-1). Described by Leask (1950, 40-1) as a ‘slab, 5 feet 3 inches [1.6m] by 2 feet 3 inches [0.68m]. Incised two-line cross with round centre and half- round ends, in a two-line frame. In three pieces. Close to NW angle of Church (WI023-028001-)’. This the same slab as the one recorded by Macalister (1949, 83) which he describes as 'At the Reefert Church (WI023-008001-), lying outside the west wall, one of several there recumbent: No. 73 of the Board of Works' publications, from the Eightieth Annual Report, 1911-12...it is the second slab from the north-west angle of the church'. According to Macalister this inscribed slab measuring 1.56m x 0.71m, `is broken into three pieces and much defaced by footwear. The slab bears a Latin cross inside a rectangular frame and with a good cross light an inscription can be detected. The inscription reads 'OROIT ||| AR | DIARMAIT' which can be expanded into 'OROIT AR DIARMAIT '.
