Inscribed slab in Sevenchurches OR Camaderry

Recumbent outside N wall of St Kevin's Church (WI023-009----) to N of slab (WI023-009015-) (29 August 2005). Described by Leask (1950, fig. 8c, 22, 44) as a ‘slab, 5 feet 9 inches [1.75m] by 2 feet 2 inches [0.66m], incised with a cross formed of an endless band; centre a plain circle; two loops at each extremity; a single line frame with hollowed angles. N of the church’. According to Macalister (1949, 83-4) the incomplete slab measured 1.75m x 1.57m and was lying prostrate on the north side of the building popularly called St. Kevin's Kitchen (WI023-009---): No. 95 in the Board of Works Report. The slab was decorated with `a Latin cross having commonplace triquetra ends to the terminals' (Macalister 1949, 83-4). The slab bore an inscription which Macalister read as 'OROIT || ARDOMNALL' which can be expanded into OROIT AR DOMNALL (Macalister 1949, 83-4). According to Macalister (1949, 83-4) the inscription is 'much battered and requires prolonged scrutiny to make anything of it at all, though it is not difficult to see that there has been an inscription in the dexter cantons, reading downward'.
