What is recorded here

Situated on a gentle W-facing slope. Semicircular area (dims. 30m N-S; 20.5m E-W) defined S-W-N by an earthen bank (Wth 5-7m; H 1m) which terminates at each end at a cliff-edge which forms the side of the Hollywood Glen. There is an external fosse (Wth 4-6m; D 0.8m) and an outer bank (Wth 3-4m; H 1m). The entrance consists of a gap (Wth 3m) at the N between the ramparts and a field boundary extending along the cliff-edge. There are no visible internal features. Another ringfort (WI015-027----) occupies a similar position on the opposite side of the Glen c. 250m to the SE and there is a standing stone (WI015-084----) 30m to the NE. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wicklow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 17 December 2008
