What is recorded here

Situated at the base of a natural hollow surrounded by marked slopes on all sides. Oval enclosure (dims. 38m E-W; 24.8m N-S) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 5-5.5m; int. H 0.9m; ext. H 0.3m) and an external flat-bottomed fosse (Wth 2-2.5m; D 0.7m). Inside the bank at the N, E and W is a narrow drainage fosse (Wth 0.5m). In view of its location the site could be a landscape feature rather than a ringfort. No visible indication of an entrance or internal features. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wicklow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 17 December 2008
