What is recorded here

The Ordnance Survey Letters (1838-40) note 'In the south west part of the townland of Ballyhorsey in this parish, they show what they call the Old Church (very near Altidore house) but nothing remains of this church if ever it was one) but a small bit of mason work about 2 feet long, two feet thick and 1 foot 6 inches high.' (O'Flanagan 1928, 78). Compiled by: Claire Breen Date of upload: 06 February 2013

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
