What is recorded here

The Ordnance Survey Letters (1838-40) record that 'some old people here remember having seen bones (human) some say skeletons of men women and children, dug up from a great depth at the edge of the beach, a little within Bray Head, at or near one of the lodges or gate houses belonging to Mr. Putland of Dublin.' (O'Flanagan 1928, 29-30). The exact location of this is not known. Compiled by: Claire Breen Date of upload: 05 February 2013

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
