What is recorded here

The Ordnance Survey Letters (1838/40) noted 'The ruins of Kilcroney Castle as it is called, lie in the SW part of the townland of Kilcroney; portions of the old walls remain on the E. and S. sides, about 24 feet [7.3m] long and 4 feet [1.2m] high, within which there is a heap of stones and mortar. The site of a court yard appears on the S.W. of it.' (O'Flanagan 1928, 24). Not located. Compiled by: Claire Breen Date of upload: 1 February 2013

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.

The map shows the centre of the officially named townland area, not the monument. The government record does not identify the exact monument point.
