What is recorded here

Situated just N of the Liffey Valley on a slight eminence with wide views to the E and S. Three cists, an unprotected cremation and a crouched inhumation were discovered in an unkerbed oval cairn (dims. 13m E-W; 11m N-S). The disturbed central cist produced a sherd of a bowl food vessel and some possibly cremated bone. The second cist contained a crouched inhumation with a bowl and the third produced an unaccompanied crouched inhumation. The site was removed by sand quarrying. (Price and Walshe 1933, 49-59; Waddell 1990, 162) The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wicklow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 17 December 2008
