What is recorded here

Located in pasture towards the bottom of a N-facing slope. It is described as Tobar na mBráthar - the Brothers' Well - on the 1840 and 1926 eds of the OS 6-inch map. This is a small drystone well (diam. 1.8m), which was venerated (OS Name Books) but is now almost completely back-filled. Traces of a channel (L 2.2m) run W from the well. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Waterford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 6th October, 2011 Compiled by: Michael Moore
