What is recorded here

The Augustinians priory of Dungarvan (WA031-040005-) owned the vill or settlement of Ballinroad where there were four plots at the time of the Supression in 1540-1 (Whtie 1943, 347; Nolan 1984, 48). It remains unlocated, but may have been centered on the burial ground at Kilminnin (WA031-042002-) where some evidence of medieval activity has come to light (WA031-044003-). The area around the burial ground has been quarried for clay. Nolan, T. (1984) Listing of Monastic possessions in Waterford, c. 1540. Decies, No. 26, 45-51. White, N. B. (1943) Extents of the the Irish monastic possessions, 1540-1541. Dublin. Stationary Office. Compiled by: Michael Moore. Date of upload: 25th August, 2011.
