What is recorded here

Indicated as a feature covered in bushes on the 1840 and 1927 eds of the OS 6-inch map, and situated on a rise in an undulating landscape on the floor of the Cappagh valley. This is an oval, grass-covered earthen mound (dims. 18m NE-SW; 13m NW-SE; H 1.9-2.2m) with no evidence of a kerb, fosse or outer bank. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Waterford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 11th August, 2011. Compiled by: Michael Moore.
