According to Power (1952, 34) Lord Broghil, the son of Sir Richard Boyle, the first Earl of Cork, reported to his father that the Irish rebels had captured Ballyanchor Castle in 1642 and shot Mr. Croker, its owner, There are no other references to this castle and it remains unlocated.
