During the 1980s a fragment of an ogham stone was found at Knockmahon promontory fort (WA025-065----). Measuring 1.20m high x 0.3m x 0.2m, it is pointed at both ends and roughly lozenge-shaped in section. The inscription is only cut on the upper two thirds of the stone, the remainder presumably being below ground when the stone stood as a pillar (Manning 1989, 9). A small portion of the top of the stone is missing, leaving the inscription incomplete. This reads: SENAQ MAQ[I]/ [MU]CO[I] ẸNA (ibid.). The stone has been moved to the Geological Park at Bunmahon c. 600m to the NW (see WA025-128001-). (Moore 1999, no. 1496)
