Located on a triangular, grass-covered coastal promontory jutting SW, that is cut off on the landward side by an eroded earthen bank (L 35m; Wth c. 6m; ext. H 1.2m) and outer fosse (Wth c. 8m; ext. D 0.35m). The interior is small (L 20m) but if two off-shore sea stacks were originally part of the fort, the interior would have been much greater (L c. 90m). There is no visible entrance.
An ogham stone (WA025-065001-) was found in the fosse in the 1980s which has been read (Manning 1989, 9) as: SENAQ MAC (or Q) ...Q (or C) ...NA. A second ogham stone (WA025-065002-) was found in the 1990s and has been read as: FEDILIMEQ MAQI TOQITAQ. The stones are now displayed in a park in Bunmahon (WA025-128001-; WA025-128002-), c. 600m to the WNW.
