What is recorded here

Situated in pasture on a small elevated plateau. This is the site of the parish church of Kilcop described as 'not worth the service of a chaplain' in 1310 (Cal. doc. Ire. vol. 5, 304). No trace of a church remained in 1615 (Anon. 1902, 113). It is marked 'Site of Graveyard' on the 1840 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, and the outline of a circular enclosure was visible (Power 1906a, 35). Nothing is visible now in pasture at ground level. Anon. (1902) Documents illustrating the history of Waterford: 1 - The Protestant diocese of Waterford in 1615. WAJ 8, 103-19. Cal. doc. Ire.
