A castle in disrepair is recorded on the terrier of the Down Survey map of Lisnakill parish (1655-6) at Whitfieldstown, and it is marked on the Down Survey map at the N end of the townland, close to the S-N Ballymoat stream. A ruined castle at Whitesfields town, owned by Peter Dobbin of Waterford city in 1640, is recorded in the Civil Survey (1654-6) (Simington 1942, 140). It remains unlocated.
