What is recorded here

Situated in a N-S valley with a N-S stream c. 100m to the E. Archaeological monitoring and testing (06E0163) in advance of laying a water-pipe identified a fulacht fia (Moloney 2006), which was later excavated (06E0281). A small spread of burnt mound material (dims. 1.2m x 0.6m; T 7cm) was associated with a pit (dims. 1.6m x 0.6m; D 0.15m), while a second pit (dims. 4m x 1.48m; D 0.36m) extended beyond the excavation, as probably does most of the burnt mound. The area is cut by a number of post-medieval trenches. (Janes, 2009) Compiled by: Michael Moore. Date of upload: 23rd December, 2010.
