Excavated (06E0277) as site 7a on the line of a water-pipe for the East Waterford Mains Supply. It is situated on a gentle E-facing slope with a N-S stream c. 190m to the E. An area of charcoal (dims. 5.5m N-S; 4m E-W; T 0.1-0.35m) was encased within an elongated mound of broken and burnt stones (dims. 18.5m N-S; 6m E-W; T 0.1-0.2m) overlying riverine silts. There was no evidence of a trough, and the mound was bisected by a WNW-ESE field drain and clipped by a N-S field drain at the E edge. The burnt stone extended outside the excavated area to the W. Burnt mound (WA015-109----) is c. 160m to the N. (Wren 2006, 4-6; 2009) Compiled by: Michael Moore. Date of upload: 17th December, 2010.
