What is recorded here

First identified in testing (03E1975) by Melanie McQuade of Margaret Gowan and Co. in advance of a new road at the NW edge of Waterford city (McQuade 2006a), and subsequently fully excavated (03E1879) by the same excavator. A small deposit (diam. 1.2m; max. T 0.12m) and shallow pit (dims. 0.9m x 0.5m; max. D 0.12m) contained carinated Neolithic pottery. Other post-holes in the vicinity may be contemporary, but not the hut-site (WA009-028----) which is just 1m NE of the deposit. Enclosure (WA009-031----) is c. 100m to the NE.
