From: Bradley, J., Halpin, A. and King, H. (1989) Urban archaeology Survey of Waterford City and County, 2 vols. Unpublished report commissioned by the Office of Public Works. vol. 2, 285-6. N. Colton. 17th century. N. wall of the nave of the Franciscan church (WA009-005032-). Worn rectangular limestone slab with chipped edges set against the N wall of the nave. Decorated in false relief with a Roman lettered marginal inscription and a fleur-de-lys cross on steps. There is a small shield in the top left corner with a ?lion rampant and there may have been a second one in the top right corner. The inscription is: N. COLTON/ GOLDSMITH & J CONRY/ HIS WIFE/ PRAY FOR/ THEIR SOVLES HERE THEY LYE Dims. 1.52m x 0.61m; T 0.17m. Power (1894-5) 217; Mems. Dead VI (1904-06) 159. Date of upload: 24 August 2010
