A stone-walled undercroft (dims. c. 25m N-S; 8.1m E-W) was built c. 7m E of St Peter's church (WA009-005023-). It may be part of a house built by John Collyn in 1470 on land granted to him by Thomas Rice (MacNiocaill 1966, 170). The walls (Wth 0.7-1m; H 1.2-1.45m) have a 1m wide footing and there were three relieving arches visible in the outer face of the W wall. A doorway with two steps leading from it is at the E end of the S wall. A stone-lined pit (int. dims. 3.1m N-S; 1.4m E-W) 9m to S was incorporated into the SE angle of the undercroft when it was extended to the S and W by a new structure (int. dims. 13m N-S; 11.4m E-W). The E wall (Wth 1.2m; max. H 1.8m) of this later building abutted the S wall of the original undercroft. (Scully 1997a, 181-4)
