What is recorded here

Situated in the W-E River Suir at the limit of its tidal range. This may be one of the six weirs or salmon pools mentioned in an extent of Carrick dated 1415, and which was described as broken in the Civil Survey (1654-6) (Simington 1942, 103). It was known locally as Cor Uí Criotháin or Davin's weir, after a leasee in the early 20th century. It was dismantled after an attempt to blow it up in 1922.
