On the crest of Knockroe hill on the NE edge of the Knockmealdown Mountains within an area of coniferous forestry. Monument identified on OS Ortho 2005. The cairn is delineated by wooden posts and there is a buffer zone around the monument. There is a panoramic view from this cairn. A cairn (TS091-022----) at foot of Crohan hill is visible 900m to the SW. This is a denuded circular cairn (diam. 15.5m; H 1.2m) composed of old red Devonian sandstone stones. In the S quadrant some stones have been heaped up the form a small pile (diam. c. 1m; H 1.4m above the cairn). The edge of the cairn is well defined, with some large earthfast stones which may be kerbing.
