What is recorded here

On an NE-facing slope in rough pastureland, on a slight natural rise. Graveyard associated with church (TS088-033----) consists of a triangular-shaped area (diam. 33.5m NW-SE which may extend further NW by 20m; c. 30m NE-SW tapering towards the SE), defined by a bank (Wth 0.85m crest, 1.9m base; int. H 0.56m; ext. H 0.52m) in the SW quadrant and by scarp in the NE. The bank is stone faced on the E side. The ground is very hummocky, particularly around the standing stone (TS088-033002-) which is located in the SE quadrant. The graveyard is depicted on the 1840 OS 6-inch map outlined by a dashed line which suggest that it was not enclosed. It is not depicted on the subsequent 1907 edition. According to Power (1908, 45-78) this is the location of an early church.
