What is recorded here

On an E-W ridge on ground sloping to the E-NE, in the garden of a house which is c. 20m to the NE of the enclosure. The monument is depicted as a circular enclosure on the 1907 ed. OS 6-inch map and on the 1840 ed. a field boundary kinks northward to avoid the monument, though the enclosure is not indicated. A circular area (diam. 20m N-S; 20.3m E-W) enclosed by an broad, flat-topped bank (Wth 1.8-2m crest, 3.3-4.2m base; int. H 0.2-1.3m; ext. H 1.1-1.3m) which is less pronounced from NE-E-SE and a flat-bottomed fosse (Wth 2.2m; D 0.6m) which is evident from the SW-W-NW. The bank is of mainly earthen construction with some stones evident. The enclosure was built into the slope with a higher bank on the upslope side. The interior slopes to the NE. There is a possible entrance in the E-NNE where a large tree has been felled, only the base of the trunk remains. A public road runs NW-SE immediately beyond the S quadrant.
