At the base of a fairly steep SE-facing slope. The well feeds into a stream which runs into the River Tar. Tobberaruddery is an anglicisation of 'Tobar an Ridire' meaning 'Well of the Knight'. There was a lot of water running from the well down into the stream at time of inspection, this may be run-off from the hill as there are no rising bubbles indicating a spring. There is a stone revetment on the NW stream bank and the well (Wth 2-2.5m; c. 0.1m) extends from stream at least c. 6m NW. It is stone lined but heavily overgrown with brambles which hampered investigation. There is a collapsed stone at the mouth of the well, including a long flat stone slab which has been displaced. The stream is very still, almost stagnant. The opposite stream bank falls gently to the water's edge and is badly cattle poached. This does not appear to be a holy well. The date of the well is unknown.
