What is recorded here

On a slight rise in fairly flat terrain in the Tar river valley, with a stream flowing c. 120m to S and a holy well (TS087-016----) located 120m to SW. The church is not marked on the 1st (1840-41) ed. OS 6-inch map, but it is shown on the 2nd (1907) ed. as 'church (site of)'. According to Power (1908, 61-2), the church was 'of the Penal Times'. This remains an important historical record, but the official description says the monument is no longer visible or has been destroyed.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
