According to the Civil Survey (1654-6) in 'Richardstowne' in 1640 there 'stands a good thatcht house' and the proprietors are listed as 'John Butler of Richardstowne Gent Dominick Lynch of Waterford Mercht Irish Papists' (Simington 1931, vol. 1, 263).
