Excavations at the S end of Sarsfield St fronting onto the Quays (Excavation Licence number 93E0094) revealed the remains of a millrace-like feature (L 4m; Wth 3.5m) built of sandstone with arched openings in the E and W faces (Henry 1994, 75). Along its eastern face there was a cutwater (ibid.). The millrace had been substantially altered by the building of several additional walls (ibid.). The dating evidence suggests that the millrace dated to before the end of the 17th century (ibid.). The millrace was retained by the developer (ibid.).
