A small excavation on Mary St, behind 60 O'Connell St (Excavation Licence number 93E0178), revealed a heavy organic silt with butchered bone, leather, twigs and sphagnum indicative of a rubbish dump or midden of medieval or early post-medieval date (Pollock 1995, 177).
