On the N side of O'Connell Street, on the grounds of No.75 (formerly Tangney's drapery). According to Lyons (1936, 288) this was part of the Court of the Palatinate. The castle, traditionally called 'Clonmel Castle' was apparently in existence up to c. 1810 when it was pulled down by John Harvey (Morrissey 1909, 242). In 1936 Lyons identified what he believed to be the remaining E wall of the castle between the then adjoining Woolworth Building and Tangney's drapery. There is now no visible trace of this above ground.
